The newspaper industry is dying a slow death or reinventing itself and fighting for market share (depending on who you ask). But I think the New York Times may be onto something here. Interesting article at the MakeUseOf website.

Times Reader – The Perfect Cross Platform NYT Desktop Reader

“I have a $200 netbook instead of a $500 iPad, and seeing as my $200 netbook can run multiple apps at a time and even use flash, I’m not planning on picking up an iPad anytime soon. So what does the New York Times offer me? A program that formats content in a manner similar to a newspaper and allows readers to check out the entire day’s paper, watch videos relevant to the day’s news and even do that day’s crossword. That’s right.”

Forget the iPad. At least for news.

Is Obama Prudent or Incompetent?

from NewsReal Blog by Michael van der Galien

Judging by the initial reaction of the administration – our clueless DHS Secretary telling us the system worked and that the bomber was a lone extremist – I would say that someone has to focus on criticizing the administration and it may as well be Cheney

from ScienceDaily

Most of the carbon dioxide emitted by human activity does not remain in the atmosphere, but is instead absorbed by the oceans and terrestrial ecosystems. In fact, only about 45 percent of emitted carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere.

As a reminder: this was covered back in November by Anthony Watts at the amazing climate and science blog “Watts Up With That”.

We all know the names of the Democratic Senators who face tough re-election runs in 2010: Lincoln, Reid, Specter, Bennet, Dodd, and maybe Gillibrand and Dorgan and a few others. One of the names that’s not usually on the list is Indiana Senator Evan Bayh
